The pharmaceutical industry is constantly involved in the development of new medecines. Before it is allowed to prescribe a medecine, it is thoroughly examined. The most important sides are the efficacy and safety. The results of those examinations is being assesed by health authorities.
Research is not possible without the help of volunteers. Together with you Andromed is working on development of new medication. Some of those might help you in the future to ensure your health. At the 'FAQ' section you can find a lot more information about our trials. At the 'Trials' section you can read on what levels Andromed carries out research. Andromed mainly carries out fase 3 and 4 research. In fase 1 research a new medecine is being tested for the first time in a small number of (healthy) volunteers. The goal of the first fase is to determine the maximal tolerated dose, the working mechanism of the medecine and to register possible side-effects.
In fase 2 a few hundred participants, whom are suffering from the disease the medication is for, are being treated with the new medication. In fase 2 the dose, efficacy, safety and side-effects are being registered. Often, the medication is compared to a placebo, which is a pill without working components.
In fase 3, the new medecine is compared to the current treatment for a period of 1-5 years. The medecine is used by hundreds till thousands humans who are suffering from the disease the treatment if for.
If the medecine has succesfully completed these three fases, it will get registered and doctors can prescribe the medecine.
In fase 4 the medecine is being checked on the possible expansions of indications and possible side-effects in a large group of volunteers. In this fase the medecine is already registered and can be prescribed.
